A Child's Guide To the Resources

Hello!

We hope you will enjoy visiting the site and will come back often!

These are the pages likely to be of particular interest to younger visitors:

Kids' Pages

Seasonal Fun*

Music for Beginners*

Miscellaneous Scores*

Easy/Classroom Ensembles*

"Kids Pages" are part of the "Get Creative" magazine section of the site. These will give you ideas for improvising and composing your own music.

"Seasonal Fun" has ideas to help families or friends make music together, using the Flash-audio as 'backing tracks'.

All the pages marked '*' require Flash and Java-script (already active in the vast majority of browsers) and make use of pop-up windows. You may need to ask a parent or teacher to allow this site to use pop-ups.

Music for a small group of players is called an ensemble. The first file listed for each ensemble is the 'full score', which shows the music for all the parts. This is followed by files containing a part for each individual instrument.

If your parent/teacher buys and prints out a part suitable for your instrument, you can use it to play along with the full score or with any other individual part. Many pieces work well as duets. You can ring the changes by playing along with a different instrument each time you visit!

If you are looking for a solo to play in a concert, the pieces with piano accompaniment (Music for Beginners) may be useful. These let you hear what your part sounds like, both on its own and with the piano.

This site is being updated at present so, if the online music you wish to play is not yet working, call back again, soon. We are adding music as fast as we can!
